Dear Year 8, 9 and 10 Parents,
I am writing to inform you of the dates for the end of term exams for your child. For those families new to GIC, Year 8, 9 and 10 students have two exam series throughout the year. The first is at the end of this term and then we have their end of year exams in June. Both of these exam series lead to an academic report.
In Term 2 (January-April), teachers continue to assess in class using a range of tasks but there is no set exam window and there is no report. In Term 2, parents are instead invited to Parent Meetings with their child’s teachers in later March to discuss their progress that term.
The exams for this term will be held from Monday 23rd until Friday 27th November. Prior to the exams, you will receive the exam timetable for each class. Typically, students have 3 exams per day and each exam runs between 45-90 minutes (depending on the subject). During this week, the regular timetable is paused and students focus only on their exams. Depending on the total number or length of these exams, they may run for three or four days within the nominated week.
At this time, teachers are still progressing through content, but in the week leading up to the exam, classes will have some time to revise the topics covered this term in preparation for the exam.
Reports for this term will be issued on the last day of term (Friday 11th December).
Thanks in advance for your support.
